Guided Discussion Suggestion?
We need a Robotics Triage Session

I would like to ask that if the guided discussions resume, one is dedicated to a robotics triage of sorts, and figuring out what is broke, what can be fixed, and what needs to just be written off.

This wouldn't be a conversation about what people think would be cool to add to Robotics. It would be more what needs to be added and fixed for it to be functional. Fixing the foundation and patching holes in the walls, not deciding what to paint the upstairs bedroom.

I don't think there's a lot to actually fix, it's just that it would help to get everyone familiar with the player side of things and the coder's "all in one room" with pen and paper so the problems can be written down in one place instead of spread across the boards, bug tickets, and even time.

At this point, it's probably just me working on this. I'm happy to schedule a guided discussion for the future, but also happy if people want to collect the issues/feedback in this thread for me to review. I have slowly been knocking out issues with them that crop up in bug reports, but I don't have a foundational knowledge of how the system is supposed to work / what it is supposed to be currently capable of doing, as I didn't code any of the original system, so it makes it a bit of a challenge.

If there are major pain points people want to call out (not new feature requests but things that make the usage of the system untenable) then please call out here or @bug.

Some people might disagree about these being really important, but I think one of the bigger things limiting the opportunities of using robots is not having a "watch" command. If your robot is in a crowded space, you won't hear a single thing that anyone says unless they either address you, or they're speaking loudly. This makes things like spying almost impossible, and makes robot use a hassle in just about every situation. It's possible there's a work around to this already but I haven't tested it myself.

Also, robots getting dirty but not being able to be cleaned at all can be a little bit of a problem. I've seen people react IC to a robot being dirty, but there's nothing that can be done to get the robot clean, so it kinda just makes a weird situation where IC things are happening for OOC reasons.

These points are just for the cheaper robots though. I think one of the kinda big pain points with robotics comes with the people who invest half a million chyen into getting a cool robot, only for it to kinda be lacking a lot of basic functions. But at the same time, it's hard to justify lowering the price, because then those players probably don't feel like it's fair that they had to pay more for the same thing, and also robots can still be very powerful in certain situations, especially with some GM help. Not really sure what to do about that, but thought I'd bring it up anyways.
Robot parts are unable to be damaged when beating the robot up which matters for reasons.
