Wrong Forum: Respecs & Advantages
Doesn't make sense

As I have been looking into the Respec files, I would like you note that I find it really odd that Advantages and Disadvantages are changed in a Respec and think that should be changed in the code.

Any character at the end of their advancement would likely have had their advantages and disadvantages for a long time and they can be majorly character shaping. With Disadvantages being randomly assigned, this pretty much mandates that with them changing on a respec that there are going to be major changes to those aspects of one's character whether desired or more importantly NOT. In many cases one's Disadvantages could be RPed as major character traits and this kind of messes up any history of such RP and the whole idea of them changing kind of flies in the face of Respecs not being intended to totally rewrite characters.

In the cases of disadvantages a player cannot accept, there are already mulligen rules for getting a change made to them and having them changed again in a Respec just seems like a forced change that there is already a system for dealing with if it were desired.

100% I've been saying this for a bit.

My flaws are baked into my roleplay. if I respecced my dude, it would be WEIRD to suddenly not be shit at x or y.

You can just ask for the same advantages and disadvantages. That's fine.

You have to remember, respecs are not just about oh I hit max ue and I wanna respec. They are actually there for people who, due to a major code change, balance change, or some other OOC issue / change, need to rebuild their character with permission from staff.

We've used them when players had stats exposed by a previous admin years back, we used this when we first initiated the UE cap, and there are still characters around who've never gone through that process and would need to if they ever returned. We've used it when huge code changes have impacted one or two players in a big way.

We reset everything by default. Because these are supposed to be used VERY sparingly.

So yeah, just ask for the same advantages and disadvantages to be set.

Also, this is a game problem and complaint, not an idea.
