Open air truck beds
Should actually be open to the air.

There exists a cargo-hauling vehicle which is described as having a truck bed open to the air. However, the implementation of it seems to treat the cargo room as an enclosed space (and until somewhat recently, it had an interior description that resembled the cargo bay of an aero). This is very unintuitive and breaks a bunch of roleplay opportunities. How could the implementation better reflect the reality?

Well, first off, the fact that one can't hop onto the back of the truck if it's locked, nor hop out. Should change it so it's always open, maybe have it require an agility check to hop onto the back of a moving truck.

Secondly, people on the outside of the vehicle should be able to see if there are any people sitting on the truck bed and vice versa. People on the truck bed should be able to look at the outside, and speak with people outside, maybe even throw or give items. And they also should be exposed to the weather.

This would make the vehicle in question a perfect candidate for independent mobile distribution enterprises, and inject an element of playful risk as any person would be potentially able to hop in and hitch a ride. The cargo loading functions would have to be tweaked a bit to account for an always-open cargo bay, but I feel like it's a fun tradeoff.

This is a hack that someone made and the code of the game doesn't support it. It is possible to make it work but the juice isn't worth the squeeze as it would require a ton of work and special verbs to make it usable.

You'd want to be able to:

- jump in and out in many situations
- shoot people from it
- be shot from it
- interact with the room as if you were in it
- die horribly when the truck crashes
- toss things in and out of it
- and more

It's more like a motorcycle than an interior vehicle, that you ride in the back of and I just don't see us adding all this functionality right now as I don't see it driving a ton of RP, even if it would be neat.
Couldn't you just use the skateboard as a template? Or a bike? Tnat exists as if in the room because you can get grabbed off it right?
Nah, it wouldn't work right. Bikes have so much custom code that make them bikes. I'm not saying the idea isn't doable, just that it's a lot of work for minimal long term benefit to the game. Maybe some day, but just not a high priority.
I'm fine with a 'maybe some day', I know it'd take a big rework. I just think it'd be pretty interesting, and would lay groundwork for more vehicle shenanigans.
