Node Markdown Marquee
geocities ftw

In the spirit of letting people really just throw together some real abominations, why not add a #marquee tag that lets you stick a scrolling marquee on your node? I'm not sure how viable it is to move text like that, but if it is, it'd be a cool thing to have.

The way it'd work, in my head at least, is similar to currently-existing markdown tags. It'd have two, maybe three arguments - The width of the overall marquee, the text color, and the text itself. For example:

#marquee
150
red
HAI GUYZ WELCUM 2 MY DETHBALL FAN PAGE xD
#endmarquee

Sadly, not possible if we want backwards compatibility with non webclient terminals/clients.

We only want to implement things that work with ansi codes for terminals as that is what mud clients are typically, universally, supportive of.

It would be trivial to do it in the web client itself, but then we would have different presentation across clients which we aren't looking to do.

Love the idea though.
I think you should do it anyway and just take the #ascii tag approach of adding a marker for clients that don't support it.

The Grid NEEDS marquees. It needs them SO bad.
