Improve skateboards
Add features

Skateboards are fun. They could be more fun.

> Make it so they can accelerate. Have it use the players stamina.

>add tricks. Imagine grinding down the railing outside of the bank until security comes outside screaming about how you can't do that. Relevant skill/stat checks could apply.

Being able to do cool tricks would be pretty fun, even if they are basically just emotes. I love me some Jet Set Radio / Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.

I dunno about accelerating. The issue with that is characters already move prettttty fast. Like, the city is huge but you can traverse the entire red sector in under 2 minutes. So, making it so you can move even faster is likely not a benefit to RP. Need to rewrite how they work so you can use a go string with them though, that is something I do want to fix so it works again.
DREAM ALERT, DREAM ALERT:

Dream wishlist for skateboards:
Allow skateboards to 'skitch' onto cars; Basically instant-follow a vehicle, with checks every room against perception and agility.
Critical failure means the board breaks, and you are slammed against the ground like you just got into a really bad motorcycle accident. Regular failure sends you flying off the skateboard like you just got into really bad motorcycle accident, but the board is probably okay. Minor failure means you let go and wherever you let go, you move one more room and then are just on your board.
This would let people do extremely dangerous shit like hitching a ride on a tube, though this is extremely dangerous and if you encounter rush hour you auto minor-fail and are now stranded unless the driver is feeling particularly nice to give you an actual ride.

Allow skateboards to help with jumps and roof tops:
Doing a sick trick over a roof hop sounds fucking awesome. It should also, potentially, reduce fall damage when falling from a great height if you do a bomb off a building and ramp down. Let someone with a cyberspine try and hit the sickest bomb of their life off the Gold Skywalk and become a legend.

Other stuff:

Pedal bikes. These exist in echoes on Green but a pedal bike would be fun to observe. About the same price as the cheapest motorcycle, can accept only basic locks, and take a lot of stamina to use, but allow you to 'drive' at 'touring' pace only, with no ethicol cost. Would work even on the tubes, since it's got a bike lane, but going through the tubes is utterly exhausting.
Able to be driven by ANYONE, even people WITHOUT the driving skill, but more driving skill will help with stamina use.
Still small in size, so able to be 'pushed' (not ridden) into rooms, but not small spaces like elevators, or up stairs. Somewhere like the lobby of a corporate building, a coat check, the bar, or the lev is fine, but you're not getting it into the Hall of Justice or into a ventilation duct.
Can only really replace the tires with maybe different types of bicycle tires.
Offroad bike tires (for the budget Badlands explorer)
Racing bike tires (faster corners, slightly faster speed)
Airless Bike Tires (highly durable)
Make them wear out much faster than other vehicles, giving lowbie mechanics a chance to flex their stuff and make some money.

Yeah that sounds like it makes sense. What feels slow in the act of typing the command into every room would realistically be fast as often times we downsize the size of outside rooms in our minds. Stringing with one command and a stop option would be a great middle ground to that though!

I think stuff like this would be pretty neat as well. We would see the formation of punk skater gangs.
