Grid Forum Signatures
Add a little flair to your posts!

It could be fun to have a little signature that you can set for your Grid forum posts (maybe limited to 5 or so lines?) which would be appended after every post you make on the Grid - either as a global thing that updates as you change it, or appended per-post, I dunno. The first one sounds more viable, in my opinion, otherwise you'd need to figure out how to keep the signature from getting caught up in the post body if you went back to edit the post.

Anyway, an example of it might look like this - let's say someone sets their signature to:
I'm posting on the Grid! Wow!!!

And they create a post, with this text:
This is an example post! WOW!!!!!!!

In the end, their forum post might look a little something like this:
This is an example post! WOW!!!!!!!
–--
I'm posting on the Grid! Wow!!!

Just add it in on the bottom of your post?
yeah and why invest in a vehicle when you can just take the lev
Exactly, ride more levs!
so we're not even entertaining the idea? i know its nothing huge but i thought it would at least be a nice little thing to have. like being able to change the color of your progia
While we are at it I think you should be able to upload an image as your grid signature just like the mid 2000s forums before social media took over.

I remember spending hours and hours making signatures on photoshop and showcasing them and it got me into a real interest in graphic design.

If not images then at least being able to style your posts with a signature (and even a pre-signature, like BEFORE your post) with colors and font styles would be really cool and give grid users an artistic spotlight or a way to craft an easily distinguishable visual identity.

We're entertaining it, but it's a slither change to make.

But I am on Svetlana bandwagon, just add it in manually if you want one.

I like the idea. The question is, should it be dynamic or static?

What I mean by that is: you set a signature. You make a post. You edit your signature. Someone views the post.

Which signature do they see?

If it's the signature as it was when you made the post (static) then I agree y'all could just be doing it manually.

If it's dynamic… And updates as you update your signature, well, that's cool and would mean even your old posts would have your signature as it stands today. We might also add some additional info like # of posts made like in the BGBB.

I'd also make an option to disable it when viewing as people might not want the extra scroll, especially screen readers

That's what I was trying to get at in my original post! Personally, I'm more fond of the dynamic option, as then it would work similarly to how it does in (most) IRL forums. Honestly, I'm open to pretty much any features to help the Grid feel more 'alive'.

However it happens, though, you'd need to be careful to make sure the signature text doesn't end up in the post text the user's provided with when editing a post, or you might end up with a mess of nested signatures or something (similar, kind of, to how on Grid 3, every time you replied to a gridmail it would insert unnecessary linebreaks, eventually rendering the quoted message one line of text and then ten lines of whitespace).

I'd probably limit it to only 2 or 3 lines rather than 5, but it would be cool to have dynamic signatures.
This is implemented.
