This has been bothering me fore a long time but I never posted about it till now. I both love and hate perm housing. I love it because it gives you access to a live quarters with like seven rooms. It can serve as a base for player based rp and schemes.
But I hate it because it isnt available anymore. Its locked behind Rare as fuck in game rewards or given to people that were lucky enough to be playing sindome when they offered them the for making a 200 dollar donation.
Allow us to buy them again, if only for a limited time.
It seems so unfair that some players have easy access to large housing while others can't.

I mean, allowing them to be bought again just refreshes the unfairness. If the goal is fair then those would have to be left to only be earned via RP, but obviously staff cannot retroactively take something people paid money for.

But only if they also allow vehicle pads again.
Jokes aside, let's not add it back. Instead: Win over those lucky few for your cause. Have them make their pad accessible to you and the gang.

Then allow it after a certain amount of time as a member. Reward loyal memberships.

That just puts characters that do have it on a pedestal though.

Many phenomenal players can't afford to allocate $200 to Sindome for a special perk. I support large unique pads but please don't gate them behind a paywall.

I would rather see the large pads handed out more often for people putting in work for the game, ICly.
As a disabled war vet that lives off my VA disability, I simply will never have 200 spare dollars to get a large pad. But I might be able to earn one Icly.
Perm pads were offered as a way to entice a significant influx of money to our server costs. It seems financials are more stable now, so it's not needed.
But please, hand out some large pads to deserving people!

Then they should be more easily accessible. Ive been playing sindome since 2013, and I have never once been granted one. Even though ive had characters that have affected the Sindome world to this day, items still exist from things previous characters have done and even for those characters it was not granted. So it makes me wonder. Do the rewards actually exist?

I do not know the details of how those are granted but my first port of call would be to ask one of the faction leader NPCs you are aligned with on what would it take, in some ic appropriate way, and then take it from there.

Switch to the GTA RP model of selling businesses / high end gear / homes and special vehicles for real life dollars. Beyond the burden of having to build new permapads and come up with some kinda RP to give it to someone, I don't remember the reason that they stopped selling them. Having to earn a spot through RP is cool and all but it seems to be a lot of effort for a place that is temporary / based on glazing your boss?

There is really no such thing as a perm pad anymore. We transitioned them all to large pads and micro faction bases. It's possible to get them ICly and some suggestions as to how have been shared in this thread.
I've discussed opening up large pad donations again for a period of time, with players able to rent one for a year for some amount of money that isn't $200.
We have a decent amount of large pads at this point. Many are just penthouses and other ones that can technically be rented IC but are too expensive to actually rent. We might also do it as sort of a donation drive to raise money specifically for Sindome as opposed to Withmore Hope so that the funds directly go to our server bills, but we haven't decided on that yet.
We won't be bringing back a $200 perma option though. This caused too many issues and a lot of extra work and there is no appetite to open that bag of worms again.

At long as large pads are affordable I'd be happy with that. As it stand right now such a low population can afford them, they might as well not even exist. A donation drive does sound like a fun idea.

As someone who has a permapad, they're really not that big of a deal. The vehicle ones were OP and I'm glad they're gone. The regular ones don't really give you any special benefit.
However, I would MUCH rather be given access to one for RP or my position in a faction rather than paying for anything. I feel like it would represent a huge achievement. Maybe there should be more transparency on how to get one? Like, does become a high level corporate player do it? Does joining a syndicate? Etc.

I started playing while permapads were still available, and I am slightly embarrassed to admit how much the regret of not having jumped on one bothers me. From tailoring, to custom chrome, tattoos, character descriptions and redecoration so much of what so many of us love about this game is, for lack of a better term, playing dress up. I adore it. The meticulous construction of a character precisely to our taste and inspiration. It is just the best when played out over time as they grow, become more successful, or less, as the story unfolds for them and for the world.
To me, currently, the state of apartments feels like a missed opportunity. Either they should all be -quite- uniform so as to lean into that particular angle of cyberpunk, or more disparate and unique and strange. Permapads, or purchased large pads, feel to me like an opportunity for the latter option. So, from a world building technique there's that. Perhaps for cost sake there's an opportunity to earn them through volunteering?
From an emotional side, I just feel sad that I don't get that particular option for character highlight that some others did, and continue to enjoy. Granted, it is possible to gain through RP, that they exist for others, however inconsequential to Crooknose's point, makes me feel envious to the extreme.
Even if donation for a large pad was gated behind having been a part of this community for a year, or five. Or if it was an option only ever several years, that it was even possible at all would make things feel a lot better, and it would get more of those pads being used! There are so many empty ones.

I guess I've never felt like I needed a large pad? Does it
actually add much for anyone's RP that can't be found elsewhere? And if it does then why is it hidden inside of a pad that is only accessible to one person?
I feel like it's fine as-is. Maybe even assign some of the NPCs to them and some @puppet-requests can take place in there so that they are more accessible for RP.
