Pruning of the UMC Ranking Board
Scrollscrollscrollscroll..!

Currently this thing is at >150 lines, and most of the listed fighters have, at the very least, not fought in years. That's assuming they're not permed out, banned indefinitely, etc.

This is obviously more of a problem with the rank of Amateur, which people tend to get evaluated and then never actually fight before boothing.

I'd love if this were just codified to auto-prune, but it's not that much of a deal. Can we add UMC ranking board cleanup to the list of 'cleaning day' tasks, though? Maybe?

Yeah, wow, that is a lot of text. I'll check with the staff on how we update this now and see if I can put a coded solution in place that will make it easier to update/prune.
This strikes me as a good opportunity for gridworks to dedicate a custom node too. It's low hanging fruit - totally acceptable to be hacked and vandalized. It could also include little subsides with fighter details that can act as a sources of payday and also be hacked/altered.
The new board has been released with code making it easier to manage instead of just raw editing the text of the board.
Woo!

Out of curiosity, is it still manually pruned, or is there a mechanism in place to clear out old entries in a more automated manner?

It's mostly a manual process. The reason for that is if we auto deleted people when they perm, for instance, it would reveal someone was dead.

My plan is to look at other options in the future if the list gets out of control. Perhaps a quarterly purge that gets scheduled automatically. Or simply dropping people who haven't signed in for 6 months. Or dropping people who have 0 bouts.

It auto prunes fights older than a year so that would self correct in and of itself.
