[2022] Known Issues with Code
Tracking known issues we are aware of

This thread will contain updates/information on KNOWN ISSUES.

These issues fall into THREE categories:

1. [NO @BUG NEEDED] Issues we know about and have enough info to fix

2. [WONT FIX]Issues we know about and do not plan to fix

3. [@BUG WHEN YOU SEE THIS] Issues we know about but don't have enough information (yet) to fix

ONLY issues that fall into the 3rd bucket need new bugs submitted about them.

USING E-NOTES 'OPEN' COMMAND IN LOCKER ROOMS [WONT FIX]

A previous coder set e-notes up such that they have an 'open' verb. Other things define an 'open' verb as well. Such as lockers. If you try to open a file on an e-note in a locker room, you won't be able to because the MOO checks for the verb on the room first, and finds it. And it's of the same form 'open with '. More thought should have gone into the name of this verb, but since people are accustomed to it, I'm not planning to fix this anytime soon.

MARKET VISUALS TRACEBACK [NEED MORE INFO]

Every now and then someone gets stuck in a market or maze. Exits recycle and they get tracebacks. I've added debugging to look into this more. But please keep @bugging this when it happens.

NPC PATHING THROUGH MAZES/MARKETS [WONT FIX]

NPCs can't 'go home' from inside a market / maze. The dynamic rooms don't support pathing the same way other rooms do. I'm not planning to fix this at this time as it would be a lot of effort for a low result. Just tell the NPC to follow you and lead them out of the market.

COLOR AND LINE WRAP ISSUES WITH THERMOS [@BUG WHEN YOU SEE THIS]

There are some color / line wrapping issues with thermos. I'm aware of them. It's tricky code. If you encounter this issue, please @bug it with details.

Edited.

SKATEBOARDS [NO @BUG NEEDED]

I know these are broken. I'm waiting to talk to Johnny about how they are SUPPOSED to work because the code is a mess. No need to submit that they don't work.

FLIGHT TRAVEL ABORTING [NO @BUG NEEDED]

In certain flight situations where you travel from interior locations (or places like narrow alleys or paths) and the same single sequence of directions takes you out into open airspace, you're going to find the travel aborted when you're about to transition from a fixed location with visible exits to the airspace without them.

We know what the problem is and plan to fix it in the future, but until we get to it, please don't give us another bug about these.

Our recommendation for the time being is to break your travel commands up so you first get out onto the street with your first sequence of commands and then you use a second sequence of commands for the travel over airspace.

FAILING GRAPPLE KNOCKS PERSON OFF BIKE [NO @BUG NEEDED]

Currently, failing a grapple check against someone on a motorcycle knocks them off the bike anyway, without any messaging to the player that they've been dismounted or are otherwise not in control of their vehicle. This is unintended behavior, and will be fixed when someone with grapple code knowledge has time to put into it.

Do not abuse this to steal infinite bikes.

Edit by Slither: Fixed

(Edited by Slither at 8:43 am on 1/31/2023)

There is an issue with aiming and cybernetics. I'm disabling telescopic lens aim ability until I figure it out. Just letting folx know. It may be a day or two.
If you use the insert key to open the second input window, and keep that open for 30+ seconds, it will disconnect you. Not super easy for me to fix this as it seems like that window being open pauses execution of everything on the page. So, don't keep it open or you'll get disconnected. I'll consider ways to resolve this.
NPC BARTENDERS SPEECH ALWAYS UNDERSTANDABLE WHEN TELLING PRICE

If an NPC bartender tells you 'that'l be 60c' or whatever, that will be understandable to everyone in the room regardless of languages. At this point, no real way to fix this due to how the code is setup. The npc is not technically speaking, it's just a spoof to the room because it's part of a scripted interaction where they tell you the price, you pay them, they prepare the drink, all at once, with no additional player input.

No need to @bug this.

@BUGS UPDATE

We've got 144 unresolved bugs currently. With 75 of those being public.

In the past 365 days we have resolved 585 bugs. That's ~49 a month. Not bad!
