Shinohara Heavy Industries (SHI) was a mega-corporation based on the east side of Red Sector, on Gibson Avenue just south of Fuller Street. It merged with Skywatch in 2102 to form Planetary Resources Incorporated.
SHI's communications equipment included wireless amplifiers and deamplifiers for the Secure Identification Chip network. The amplifier addressed poor local coverage, while the deamplifier created a permanent SIC dead-zone for security or mental quiet. Both devices affected a single room.
SHI also provided paid boxing work as part of its industrial operations. That employment continued under PRI after the merger.
In August 2102, the United Nations approved the merger of Shinohara and Skywatch Orbital Research following a turbulent quarter for both companies. The new corporation brought together Shinohara's industrial operations and Skywatch's orbital and infrastructure interests.
