Infared/Metal detection goggles
saw in a Popular Science Mag

Here's an idea. A certain law enforcement agency has thermal goggles built into their helmets. Well, in the (Feb?) 2002 edition of Popular Science (yeah, we get the mag) I read that Airports are testing a helmet that lets the security guards have x-ray or basically metal detection goggles. Right now it requires a backpack and a laptop to be strapped to you along with the goggles, but the fictional sindome technology would have that built into goggles.

So my idea is having not only thermal goggles for that certain protection agency, but metal detecting goggles along with that, so they can see if a person has a weapon on them.

Anyone remember Total Recall where they're walking through the terminal with x-ray detection (you can see a picture of their skeleton in green and the metal objects show up red), arnold has the gun, gets detected and totally shoots the place up?

Everyone's bitching about crime being to hard to commit and you want to make it nearly impossible to carry a weapon in the dome?  I mean im WJF and im even against that.  I think the Infra-red is more than enough really (when its working) and being able to see a weaapon on someone takes the suspense out of the encounter giving a Judge way to much of an advantage.
You god dammit judges don't get it....IT IS NOT TO HARD TO COMMIT CRIMES if You don't get away with it....it's your own fault....

I've said this a thousand times lemme spell it out for you

If I'm The regular newbie, now I can have a little charisma and be a reporter and make GOOD money, or win and NLM contest and pull in a couple mill a year... and there is NO RISK

if I'm a the regular vet with some money, and some gear, I keep doin what I did to make money, Judge, Terra, Tailor, Fixer....blah cause Im good at it, and I'm not gonna die from my job

Now why would you wanna be an ok combat char as a newb, and try to be a criminal if yu might get a few hundred bucks in your pocket, no gear,  and wanted by WJF?  The Thrill?  You can hide somewhere yoiu hope no one finds you when you disconn?  Use your hard earned UE, towards stats and then....you die cause you got caught now you suck again?  I could just have a pretty smile and make 100 times what a criminal makes?

Why would anyone throw that away?

why would they do it IRL?  Why would someone try to smuggle in 5 million dollars worth of dope?  or Extort hundreds of t housands of dollars?  Launder hundreds of millions?  CAUSE IT'S GOOD MONEY FOR A LITTLE WORK

In SD as it is it's hard work to be a crim, and it doesn't pay well at all....there is no incentive

So All it's not too easy to commit crimes....there is no reason to...when someone, Admin or player undestand my points please tell me cause I feel like a broken record

What did that have to do with this thread?

you brought it up and I'm sick of it, you and murphy keep talkin like there is too much crime....TERRA takes care of red....so why would you care if crime ran rampant down there?

Are you too deep into your senseless rant to have actually read her post? Christ man, you're like a broken record. None of the shit you're talking about is anything new, even i've heard it about 100 fucking times already.
Yes I read it, and I know sound like a broken record, but it seems like no one understands it, all people do are say it's too hard to commit crimes, I'm gald you finally acknowledged wwhat I'm saying
So instead of complaining about it, why not come up with ideas to help make playing criminals more enjoyable?
You mean like having an NPC corp contacting someone with decent amount of money to get a 'cleaning business' going this way the money will draw in a few newbs, and allow vets to take the risk in to gettin in to crime?

Like that kind of a idea?

Someone buying the casino as a front for money laundering, a mafia family

are those the kinda of ideas your talkin about?

the ones I have posted here a hundred times before?

There needs to be more money involved in crime...not outrageous amounts, just enough to lure people in

I like the Mafia idea, I think a structured, organized crime society would be better than a gang. It could have secret fronts etc. Newer players could join the Mafia as an associate and do small tasks, then eventually work their way up until they become a part of the family and do bigger assignments.

I want to see some high-level extortion though, some organization leeching money from a corp somehow.

Tha'ts what I'm saying, but to do it you gotta have shit loads of money, that's were the sabationing corp coms in, he can pay to get if off the ground, and get it in motion then call in favors....they could use 3k a week and a cheap peice to draw newbs tha have to stay in, or die....it would work
I sent an e-mail in about that a couple days ago, a proposal.

Don't put words in my mouth, or I'll start being very rude.

I am never talking as if there is too much crime, I'm talking as if most of you would-be criminals don't know what you're doing and are too lazy to think.

A few days before I became a Judge, I brokered a deal for someone and made about 20k out of it in the space of a day. A few days earlier, I'd commited a crime that COULD have netted me somewhere between 20-25k, but it was found out because of some mistakes I made, so I turned it to my advantage another way. That would have been about 40k, 2 months of Judge salary, in the space of a couple weeks. And I didn't even do anything -serious-.

Furthermore, I can think of a couple of player character criminals with very large bank accounts from their illegal activites. If they can do it, so can you.

Finally, did you even READ Alla's post? She very much said that we SHOULD NOT get metal-detecting goggles. She was arguing in the favor of YOUR cause. NOT against. So quit whining.

Edit: No wait, I'm not done. What's all this shit about Judges not dying from their jobs? The ONLY reason I've died is because of my job. You might say, 'Well, youve only died once!' and yes, I've only died once, because my character doesn't want to die.

Alla has a deathwish or something, though. She dies like once or twice a week.
