What I have is a scanner for my law enforcement. These are the people that enforce the law (in case you haven't guessed). They are able to do 2 things with this scanner, retrieve a criminal record by scanning the character or inputting a name or implant #, or set it by the same methods. I'm thinking that the nicer shops in my game are going to have devices set on the doors for logging the number in the character's implant. After a shopkeeper realizes something is missing, he can call the law enforcement and have them pull the log for the device. They can then check the persons past criminal history, and add to it a crime or a simple statement saying he is wanted for questioning back at the station. This sounds like it makes crime hard, but it really isn't. ICly this system will soon be hackable. People with the skills and the gear will be able to frame people, erase records, etc. This will make for a nice profession having the criminals pay you to erase their record.
The last part of the system that makes it useful is the pulling of records for an employer. Someone can call the law enforcement and ask for them to pull a record on so-and-so because so-and-so wants a job. Those of us that have applied for a job know that employers like to do background checks. The closest thing to this on SD is the way the WJF rejects past criminals for employment. If anyone could clue me in as to how this sytem works on SD, it would be appreciated, since I'm a bit curious.
