Gibson and Sterling's joint "little" gem.

I finally finished this book. and I have to say it's one of the more difficult reads Ive done recently. It doesn't help that I read it in spurts. Backtracking severely at times and managed to lose  it for a month before I started reading it again.

Late 1800's/early 1900's… I forget the exact year it's set in but this book is so chock full of lingo that it had me reaching for a dictionary ... and it's so stuffed and brimming with oh so much lush detail that Im not sure where the plot wandered off to or if it even matters that much. :P

and then i found this place http://www.sff.net/people/gunn/dd/ and it all made sense ;)
I started re-reading it as soon as I finished it.

If youre interested in cyberpunk themes and what not, Id pick this book up and check it out.

I have to say I was very disapointed with this book. It was just entirely to heady… I mean I don't mind having to think, but not when I'm trying to relax and loose myself in a book. Especially one I'm going to unconciously compare to Neuromancer, no matter how hard I try to accept it on it's own merits.

Cryptonomicon does "cyberpunk" or "cypherpunk" in a historical setting very well.
