Yep, for some odd reason. Not everyone, though - it stems from students leaving their parents' home on july 1st, since they have the day off their summer jobs and school is out. So, as they've signed their leases on July 1st, well, they expire on July 1st.
Course, it isn't everyone, but, many, many people move on July 1st.
