Back in the day, I kicked around several ideas for how to make businesses make money in an IC way. Some of you have had conversations with me concerning this topic and I've thought about it a lot since the first player took ownership of a bar.

To address this 'hole' in our virtual economy, I've made it possible for the game masters to setup weekly profits for bars and stores. Consider it the equivalent to the salaried jobs the corpies have.

If you own a bar or a store, contact a GM to get your business producing the chyen you should be earning from your ambient customers.

Thats an awesome idea.  I remember talking about it at the Town meeting I think it was.  Is there going to be monitoring of like, stock, and actual PC business that goes into the shop?

I mean like, say theres a business that really just stocks there stuff, and leaves it.  And a few players a week buy a few hundred chyen worth of stuff.

And then theres a place that players are at alot.  Like the Drome, or Carnal.  Which are established.  Which advertise, and have word of mouth.  Will how much the business makes in PC profits decide how much they make in Ambient profits?

Sadly, the ability to affect your ambient wealth is too great when you factor in friends and so on. While I'd like to base the ambient profits on real sales, it's easier and -safer- if the GMs do their job and determine what the ambient profits should be.

Bars that automatically take a cut of profits will not take a cut of these profits, just the -real- profits that come from actual usage of the bar.

Does this mean it's possible for someone to run a store with nothing for sale and still make money? Yes ... until I catch your cheating ass and beat the chyen out of your corpse a few times over.

This way, if you 'work' the system, your cheating, not just being clever.

Don't rely on us knowing you shouldn't be making X chyen, be honest and tell us.

Just making sure you wouldn't be able to have a shop with nothing IC to sell, or one that no one ever goes to because you fail to advertise, or sell crap, and still rake in a profit :)

I think it is a good idea and could lead to maybe even a stock market with major corporations and you can call certain ppeople and they will get you hooked up with the stock market and make you money for a percentage of what you make. Now I know that is a massive system and the stock market would be far off but it would be total awesomeness and I could finally make money!!!!!

WOOOO money!
