I want to refer back to a thread titled "Spraypaint Vending Machines". It got closed by Kevlar a while back because they were debating what sort of custom color spraypaints should be made available.

Now we have vending machines for drugs. The vending machine concept has been around a long time...SoyaNuts and snack machines at Carnal Desires, for example...but once the machine is out, how do we restock?

If the answer is "a GM can do it for you", my follow on question is, why the hell should we want or need a GM to manually restock all vending machines? Isn't there a better way to do this?

Can the system which is used to restock stores ICly be used to restock vending machines, to get courier characters involved? Or should it be more like restocking bars, where the manager can do it?

Speaking of the manager/owner of vending machines issues...how can you re-key a machine, so to speak? The manager gets killed off, is that machine doomed to be empty rotting metal now for ever and ever?

I have always thought that this is something that needed attention and could hopefully be solved without tons of effort, tho I know nothing about the code side of it.  

I'd really love to see vending machines be more common, and have everything in them, from drugs to weapons to drinks to skillsofts to whatever.

I'll laugh when it still gives you the wrong thing or charges you but doesn't vend.

Suggestion: Transition ownership of vending machines to some sort of vending machine corp and have to rent them like a regular store front, only cheaper. Either that, or only receive 80-90% of the profit from the machines after a commission is made to the vending machine owners.

As for vending machines owned by specific player chars, etc. If they're empty, they're empty. Either the PC is dead or has moved on and left his or her customer base to rot. Might as well find another PC who has his vending machine posted up elsewhere.  True vending machines are a convenience, but they stifle RP when there's somebody out there who can RP with you to get what you want.

That said, where the heck's the Ice Cold Ebola Cola vending machine and how can I get one in my apartment? :D
