Have some locations for very short-term leases (weeks) for basic, cheap, independent shop leases. Much like real-life popup shop locations, these would only allow for very basic redecoration, if any at all. Probably just signage. Also would be more exposed/out-in-the-open compared to an established store with a long-term lease. Some of these could be rotated through locations that are currently NPC run (especially food carts for example)
- Food carts
- Newspaper, umbrella stand
- Tailoring kiosk at the mall
- Piercing pagoda
- Electronics repair / data recovery
- PC trading stand at a market maze entrance
Could come with limitations like a maximum number of consecutive weeks to prevent people from camping a good location and to encourage businesses to migrate around or work together. Or maybe just give priority to anyone in queue or allow for bidding.

So you get all the upside of a leased shop, without the downsides of it, it's actually way better deal for most people than an actual lease, as very few people got the stamina to keep a lease going in perpetuity, and will make about as much in the popup system without the strain.
Leaves leases in even tougher spot.

Regarding leases this might work. Leases really do help you run RP plots because they give you the flash to do it. Adding smaller leases might be cool. I'd love to see someone towing around a good cart on a bike or a car.

Leases do not give you cash, that's a horrible wrong myth. Almost all of the cash you get weekly is just repayment of what you've put down up front.

Youget more back than you put it. It's a legit investment. And there are things you can do to increase biz revenue. Leases absolutely pay you dividends.

Without derailing this topic, what you can make from exceptionally ran lease weekly is usually below what you would get from a service mixer entry level job. And that's assuming you are very frugal. Been there, done that, but it's a hobby, the income comes from what you build around the lease, not lease itself.

Incorrect depending on the business you have leased. While it is true it takes a significant amount of cash down to procure the lease, you make in addition to the service you are providing to players, an automated amount per week that is quite healthy and profitable. I just did the math on one and the profit margin is much more than a repayment on your investment. Though I suppose you could classify it as a repayment for your time and stress in dealing with said business heh.

As for the idea it could be a neat avenue of moving into those larger leases. Instead of a 10-15k weekly payout from the ambient population you could rate it at about 3-5k. Constantly having to move it seems like a good way to keep things fresh and having curious customers seeking you out too.

I think that 'weekly' payments aren't taking into account staff.
You pay three staff 2k or 3k a week and boom, you're running crates.

I think those who have had a negative experience, or ran a lease with a deficit, are applying that experience to this thread where it isn't the same thing. I don't see why you would need employees to even pay at a pop up shop. I don't see why you would or should be able to operate a night club as a pop up shop, etc.
