Origins ideas thread
One stop chop shop

I'm sure we've all had some ideas for origins and don't want to clog up an announcement post. Here we are! Of course some ideas might actually be somewhat implemented, but I just haven't croaked to find out!

My proposal- 'Felibot Fever' - You, for some reason or another, have been allocated a base felibot assembly kit, rig controller, and 20k chyen! Maybe you made a deal before moving to Withmore with a supplier, are owed it because of a debt to a smaller corporation who might ask some favors, or you won the PRI rigger lottery! In any case, you get a headstart to your competition when it comes to smacking up that felibot…or in most cases, ~learning~ how to smack up that felibot!

Parkie - You were born in Withmore and either spent your life in the park, or have been living there for a while. You start with Mixmash instead of English. You have a pre-existing relationship to the park boys and owe them . Or maybe you are on good terms with them. Resistant to several diseases.
Could start with a shitty weapon, a flashlight, and addiction and/or (semi-?) permanent park smell.

He Who Must Not Be Named - follower/initiate/wannabe for a certain cult, details [redacted]

War criminal:
You were an officer in a foreign military or corporate black ops team that tried to cover up a war crime you or your peers were responsible for. You fled to hide in Withmore with a UN Live capture bounty of 200k. Once you are turned over you are then whisked away to UN prison forever.
Deep Cover

You are a cryo-reconditioned criminal who has been sent as a deep cover agent for the WJF to infiltrate a major crime organization and dismantle it for Justice. You have 1 year to make major inroads into an organization interest before your conditioning is set to wear off and the WJF will throw you back into a lifetime lock up or perm you.

If you perform adequately you can be re-cryo'd and continue your service to the WJF either as a Judge or go deeper into double-agent status.

Advantages would be some sort of WJF resources, leads, weapons, etc, maybe even access to the WJF key.

Disadvantage is the timeline and maybe a chip implant of some sort that gives the Hall your exact location at all times.

Your true identity would be known by an existing WJF PC, who would be your handler (or an NPC if no PC's are around to fill that role).

Hostile Work Environment:

You're a corporate-immigration transfer to one of the three playable megacorporations from another headquarters, hundreds of miles away from Withmore. Unknown circumstances have led to your mandated removal from your original team - nothing good on your part, but you know things, enough things that they're willing to keep you on the roster despite your retinue of fuck-ups. However, you're on your last strike, and you don't want to know what happens when that last chance runs out.

You've received a sizeable transfer bonus to help you get settled in at the new location, but you start out in deep shit with HR. Any screw-up, and you're out the door for good… and with how much you already know about the company, getting 'fired' at this point is probably going to end up worse than death.

Ex-Con

You’re a released convict of the SCF who’s served a 2-10 year sentence. You start with extra UE from your time in the can, contacts and/or a reputation with one criminal organization in Withmore from the crime(s) you managed to pull off in the past, as well as a rap sheet at the Hall of Justice where a Judge has been assigned to oversee your parole. Parole requires that you avoid being judged guilty of any crimes or else the WJF will seek to re-incarcerate you or perm you.

You must include a description of the crime you were incarcerated for in your history which will be added to your Hall file and can choose whether or not to share details of it with others. If others with this origin exist simultaneously in the game with you, you can RP knowing similar fellow inmates but not that you know each other or were ever locked up on the same level of the prison at the same time.

(Guesstimating some details based on what little I know of the SCF)

Escaped Test Subject

You were never supposed to live. You were a prisoner in ViriiSoma's secret labs, a test subject for one of VS's experimental nanos, biomods, diseases, what-have-you. Somehow, you escaped, and now you're on the run.

-You have crazy side effects from the experiments. Oozing, disfigurement, painful bioluminescence, etc., it's your choice.
-You have the lowest appearance stats.
-You are on ViriiSoma's most wanted list. You know too much, after all, and you're walking evidence of atrocities that VS prefers to be covered up. Beware even passing by Cobblestone Plaza!
-Depending on the details you choose, you might already have nanos injected in you, biomods, or suffer from a constant state of non-contagious disease symptoms that randomly become contagious.
-Doctors and medical professionals can test and study you to figure out what was done to you. They might end up learning more than they had bargained for!

Corpie kid

You grew up in Withmore - on Blue. Your parents are filthy rich. But for one reason or another, they consider you a massive embarassment. Whatever happened recently, it was the last straw and they have decided to cut you loose.

(Optional) You're addicted to ALL the fun types of candy.

Advantage:
- You get a "small" stipend from your parents every week from your family, who still has a marginal interest in keeping you alive. As long as you don't stain their reputation further.
Disadvantage - had a bit of trouble with this one, but maybe:
- Your family and/or your very public past transgressions has put you on the shitlist at every corporation in Withmore. You'll never get that comfortable corporate employment. Or even a job as a service mixer.

Mutated Freak:

You were born and raised in the badlands. The toll of living in close proximity to radiation has affected you in a not so fun way. You are mutated, and not like the X-men. Your charisma will forever be at the lowest level because you're an ugly freak that even an autostyler and some makeup can't fix, but you will be able to choose a mutation that can stay with you for the rest of your days: Gills, instant healing from cannibalism, armored skin, or the ability to carry but not suffer from highly contagious diseases! The local population in the city won't take kindly to mutants while some badlands settlements will deal them on a case by case basis. They are driven to live in the sewers and come up for things like supplies, SIC, or a succulent human steak.

Edit: of course I post this before I refreshed!

Origin- NEGATIVE CREDIT SCORE!

Background: You fucked up. You owed an official bank somewhere a lot of money, defaulted, and now everyone on this side of the galaxy knows how shit you are with money.

Roleplay: You can't open a bank account. You can't use the lending terminal. You probably can't even be corporate unless you play some cards right! Nobody likes a defaulter.
Nomad Outcast-
You used to belong to a group of nomads who survived out in the Badlands, and through unfortunate circumstance you have been cast out of your clan. They didn't leave you entirely screwed- They gave you one of their hardly used low-tier vehicles with the most basic parts imaginable- Either a cricket or a mono. If you ever try and sell this vehicle, your clan will come to reclaim it instead. This may give you some clout with the various Badlands factions, but they will be aware of your status as a fuckup. Will you try and adapt to become a liason for your clan for the city and win back their trust, or will you leave your old family behind and embrace the city?
