Gliders and Skywalks
Please, can we have it?

With the recent removal of the death nets and skywalk jumping in safe area, this also removed an escape avenue that has been with Sindome for as long as I've been a member. Gliders themselves are expensive and rare. In all my time playing I've only come across one. So maybe a cybernetic alternative could be introduced? Or could gliders be made more plentiful and cheaper?
Both of these ideas would be MUCH cooler than the previous jump and pray method. Much, much cooler, and themely! Flight of the Mixers, or corpie Black Op Swan teams.
I do agree removing a dangerous escape route and forcing players another ~30k expense to stay alive is a big setback on possible topside crime. But at the same time creating chrome to adjust for this is equally bad idea. Paragliders are permiable to damage, which is something a chrome equivalent wont be. Just make us able to knock ourselves out on our way down from gold and possibly bleed to death while getting down from Heaven.
The thing is that those nets were never intended to be reachable by jumping from Gold. Whoever set them up misaligned the submatrixes way back in the day. We simply realigned them to look over the proper rooms when we realized it. And is it really that dangerous an avenue when jump survival is basically guaranteed, it's easy to get to Fuller Med from there even when bleeding, and it instantly removes you from any immediate retaliatory threat? It was basically a null risk avenue.

As for gliders? I personally think the badassery of paragliding away from crime should be a rare-ish occurance, and that the majority focus should be on arranging escape/distractions/etc. with other PCs. Removing the net jumps should incentivize teaming up for topside crime rather than seeking new ways to RP alone. We can't get away so easy on our own anymore, so start bringing chums with other skills on topside shinanigans.

I'd love to see paragliders become cheaper and more accessible. Or, possibly, one-time use parachute items could be a cool addition.
You could pass out from the fall. Not sure what would happen if you landed on top of a cat. Nothing stopping anyone from following, either. Or catching you at FullerMed.

Who cares if it was unintended, it was cool, served a purpose and added options and roleplay to the game.

Edit to add: I don't see this leading to more cooperation or adding anything. It will just reduce topside crime with nothing to replace it.

Paragliders are currently at the cheapest price I've ever seen them in the stores, there's four stocked in the Mix right now, they're 30% under rarity. There's also other avenues of getting one cheaper or escaping through cheaper, different means. There's more to consider than skywalk jumps when it comes to paragliders and any introduction of cheap, one use parachutes too.
I feel so embarrassed that I took advantage of this "misaligned sub matrix" for so many years and passed the knowledge on to other characters, thinking it was completely IC and purposeful. I would have never taken advantage of a bug had I known it was a bug.

I like the added collaboration aspect of needing a distraction or a getaway. It's already changed my RP for the better.

I wouldn't worry about it. Tons of people have used it over the years, myself included.
