I' havent oocly yet learnt how the nanogenics are kept and stored, but I think it's worth looking into if they could be extracted from the bloodstream of recentley deceased corpses, with a low success rate and significantly lower time window to be extracted compared to chrome (an hour or two at most).

This would significantly promote more secondhand nanogenics being administered by ripperdocs, while also keeping it rare enough that it woudn't take away from the biz of legitmate clinics.

As far as I know, secondhand nanogenics just aren't a thing. They're like serums that get administered and change your genetic makeup, and once they've done their thing, that's it.

I guess you could kludge up some kind of heinous tool that tries to filter the stuff out of a cadaver's blood and reconstitute the nanogenic, but it'd be a kind of crazy thing to imagine. Biotech getting more use as a skill generally speaking would be pretty nice, though. There's not a lot of stuff you can do with it otherwise.

From a gameplay perspective, there's ways you can get nanogenics that don't involve licensed people/clinics, and I think nanogenics are also the way they are to ensure there's always a steady flow of people seeking out legal clinics (or these secondary sources) for work.

well, no, nanos don't change your genetic makeup, exactly, they're nanomachines. the timeline mentions a grey goo situation at MIT when they were in their early stages. im aware that @stats says you're going through a genetic mutation but i honestly believe thats just an oversight from where something got changed forever ago. plus certain nanos can be 'bled out' of a person.

I think this is a super cool idea. There could be specific, expensive, ripper doc tools to get the goo out in time. Maybe make the timing much shorter than chrome. Also, when you inject it, it should give you a lower-end version of the pure stuff since it's contaminated and half used up.
