As the title say, as of now. It is so extremely vague and based on multiple factors.
Good chance for someone who is weak.
Is not the same as good chance for someone super strong.
Excellent chance for someone that is weaker is 1 more whatever.
Excellent chance for someone who is extremely strong is like 4 more things.
It also means one can not give a assessment when people ask how much can I take?
Sorry bud, don't know. Shove some chrome into you to gauge a baseline, feels a little archaic.
If my tone is rude I apologize, it's not how I mean to convey it, just having a discussion on this. Thank you for reading.

I would love less error-prone PDS assessment, while I get that the idea is towards experimentation and accidents, plus maybe plausible deniability for when someone ends up with PDS so they doc won't have their license at risk, I would love that to be a more of a choice on doctors side, and not massive guesswork.

That's the problem. It's a massive guess work, and less skill.

While there are things a Doctor can do to mitigate or warn their patients of risk, like warning them if they go over you will remove these pieces of chrome or dissolve some to bring them back down into the safety zone (with each uninstall charged ofc), I get it.
Perhaps another IC out for the Doc that they advised the patient of the risk before, the patient accepts all liability of the harm they may cause to others? It would be nice if this responsibility landed more in the lap of patients. Then you get interesting rp about rights to cyber enhancement and social responsibility. Judges and bosses can bring down consequences on more than just the Doctor. Not sure if that'd work.
Its a psychological condition and Id like to keep it feeling that way. If its too exact it doesn't feel slippery enough? If that makes sense. I like PDS feeling a bit vague. I like that youre not quite sure just where is the line. When will you snap and to what degree? Its different for everyone.
I admit I also love the idea of more people running low level PDS on the regular :P

I like PDS being anyone's guess. Streamlining it will further ensure nobody ever plays with PDS in any meaningful way or rides the edge that blurs between humanity and cyborg.

Like Mindhunter said, let's not minmax chrome so that you can get "just enough". If you gotta break rules to get more than your body can handle then that's CPAF.

I do think it'd be nice if there was more leeway on it, letting patients accept the risk if properly advised. Especially since while a ripperdoc may be willing to let you go over, some chrome seems difficult/impossible to get outside of official sources.

Patients can accept the risk, they just gotta find a doctor brave enough to do the operation to put you over.
Rules given to you by your boss are given because Job RP. It's up to you if your character is gonna break them or not.
Stop living inside the box.
Live outside it.
Or something like that. I'm riding what MindHunter said. Grey area is intentional in some systems; we don't need everything to be black and white.
