Ammo Crates

Had this thought a while back and now seems like a good time to suggest it; how about ammo crates? Big fuckoff boxes with, say, 1000 rounds of a standard small arms caliber that you can refill empty magazines out of. Helps solve the issue of having a bunch of half-empty magazines kicking about, for the kind of people who collect them.
Would that not wipe out ammunition crafting entirely, along with the need to ever buy it? It seems to me that a handful of empty magazines and 1000 rounds could probably account for the total amount of firearm usage by all characters for a whole year.
To upside i see here is a bit easier mag management, and downside that people of wealth will just buy crate for calibres they use and never interact with buying mags again.
It's entirely possible to buy lots of cartons of magazines. Like, a single carton of standard magazines runs between 100 and 150 bullets per. I don't get how buying a single crate of ammo is going to break ammo rigs more than buying ten cartons would. Would 100 rounds per crate make a significant difference? You can get that much in a carton just with less hassle of magazines.

You might be slightly extrapolating your experience as being the same for all players.

Having a single object bottomless supplies of restockable ammunition that could last fo years absolutely makes munitions techs irrelevant in ways that a controlled source of monitored supply of smaller quantities doesn't, otherwise it wouldn't be a convenience to suggest.

I kinda get the idea, as just trashing all those mags is a bit odd instead of simply reloading them, but I doubt we will get a complete guns rewrite to have lose ammo we slot and keep track of… Or that it would really add to the game much vs the making of entire mags as ammo source, besides just not being so weird from OOC perspective.

Maybe if there were more ammo sinks first... But until them leave poor ammosmiths some resemblance of profit, as then anyone with the crate could replace all ammo smiths with ease, and without needing any skills.

How about an empty ammo crate that can be filled, if a full one is going to ruin ammo rigs.
