Too much ghetto stuff...

Alrighty, while not directly related to problems with Sindome in any way, I was still hoping there would be someone out there who could know how to help.

One of my very good friends has gotten all hyped up about Sindome, which is quite awesome, except he has an old POS computer that can only run Windows 95 and AOL 3.0 and is virtually worthless. He's having trouble connecting outside the AOL program to use Pueblo, and it doesn't register as being connected while the AOL program is connected. If this makes any sense, or if you think you have a solution, or could come up with a solution if you talked with him, or anything of the sort, email me at  [email protected]  and I shall hook you up with his email.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can possibly help.

Best sollution would be to purge all sign or AOL from his sytem and use a -real- ISP.

:)

Yes, I know it's not really helpful but I'm bored.

To assume the guy's on dial-up…if he has a crappy comp, why run AOL? It sucks system resources like crazy, it's a big useless thing with buttons. He could get his service from a smaller, local dial-up ISP and pay less.

Anyway, he could use telnet instead, by clicking a telnet link, it should probably work through AOL. Or the java client on the main SD page? There are also a bunch of other free M* clients that are tiny downloads, that might work.

Well yes, getting rid of AOL is obviously the best answer, but he's not the decision maker in his house and his parents are evidently quite attached to it. We've tried the java, but the browser built into AOL doesn't support java and in trying to download something to support it, we've found nothing that works properly. Any other ideas?
Sounds like he needs to upgrade his AOL.
He can't - his computer can't take anything higher than 3.0.
try having him click this: telnet://sindome.gigsville.org:5555 ?
Upgrade his AOL?

Come on now, that's a contradiction in terms.

Tell him to beat his parents about the face and neck with a clue-stick.
