FOIG: Find Out In-Game AKA: Find out ICly AKA: Find out In Character AKA: That's IC AKA: That's In Character
WHY YOU WERE TOLD TO FOIG/FOIC
This is used to relay to a player that the information they are requesting is In Character information and should not be asked OOC (Out of Character) or on Out of Character channels like OOC-Chat or Game-Help or xhelp.
Try asking someone In Character, or on the SIC.
EXAMPLES OF IC INFO:
Where is XYZ Located? Where do I get to the Mag-Levs? What's so and so's name? Where do I buy XYZ? Basically, everything that isn't a question about or confusion relating to a command that you need to use Out of Character.
EXAMPLES OF OOC INFO YOU CAN ASK ABOUT:
How do I memorize something? How do I open a cube? How do I find out what commands I can use?
EXAMPLES OF OOC INFO YOU CANNOT ASK ABOUT:
What is the best stat to be good with a gun? What is the best skill for combat?

WHEN TO TELL SOMEONE TO FOIG/FOIC
Please remember that telling someone to find out in game can be frustrating for them. Here is the rule of thumb:
If the person asked this question on public sic, would it be weird? If so, it's an OOC question. If the person asked this question on public sic, would it be weird? If not, it's an FOIC question.
WHAT TO SAY WHEN YOU NEED TO TELL SOMEONE TO FOIG/FOIC
Do not just say 'FOIC' when someone asks a question on game-help. If that is all you are going to say, please just remain silent. Point people in the general direction of where to find the answer. Let them know something like:
'We can't answer that here because it is an IC question (help foig) but if you were to ask that question in character on the public sic (help sic) characters in the game could answer.'
You can swap 'sic' out for other things like 'at a bar' or 'on the grid'. Being as forthcoming as possible within the rules allows us to give new players a better experience. Each and every person on Game-Help is responsible for this. Please also remember to grant karma 'help karma' to people you see giving good answers!
