WHEN AND WHY
Sindome is a Role-Playing Game with a handful of GMs and hundreds of players. GMs can not and do not see everything that every character does all the time. Even those of you that assume your character is big and noticeable: we still do not monitor everything your character does all the time. This is where notes come in. We encourage you all to use notes as a way to help us GM for you. Did you have a meaningful interaction with another PC? Tell us about it! Did you attack an unpuppeted NPC ganger? Tell us about it! Just because no GMs were on to see what your character did or because they were busy with other work and didn't notice it, the IC world DID notice it. Or should have. This is why it is key for players to keep us informed.
@notes are best used when you want to communicate your goals, or what you're currently trying to do to the admin. If you're also planning to do something that will definitely require admin help to accomplish, it's best to put timing on there, so it can be accommodated as best as possible.
Sometimes you may be inclined to use your own @notes to document other characters' activities and secrets. A lot goes on that GMs actually don't know about. Using @notes to let us know about what your own character wants and needs is the classic usage, but using them to set up another baka for the fall is something "power user" could do. Just don't LIE in them. That would be metagaming, powergaming, and otherwise cheating.
Things which GMs cannot act on: -> Missing details. It is useless to note "I talked to Raymond." without saying why, what motivated your character to do so, etc. -> RP-less giveaways. We won't act on a note which simply says "Can I have a ... !?" when you aren't lifting a finger to act ICly to pursue. Roleplay it and let us know how you roleplayed it. -> Unrealistic expectations. We don't have a lot of resources to build/invent/create people/places/things which don't exist, just because your player describes an elaborate plot idea and sends their PC off to set it in motion. -> Usually, diaries. Your @notes aren't your character's memory, you have other IC tools for recording things for the character to remember. Goal-less journals of day-to-day happenings MIGHT wind up including the occasional bit of plot fodder for GMs to pick up on, what happens more often is that a journal winds up including a lot of "I did this" and not a lot of "I want/plan/fear this".
So beyond that, just try to think about what you can @note which GMs CAN react to. It has to be ICly plausible and based on actual RP which you either have done or are planning to do, pursuing your character's goal. Notes aren't a shortcut around RP, they're a way to let GMs know what you now need or will soon need, to get/keep your RP flowing. What do you know that GMs might not know? As stated above, there is a LOT we don't know. Even if we see some of your RP, there may be dots we can't connect. And we definitely do not see every bit of every PC's RP.
HOW TO WRITE A NOTE
Tag Your Note: You will be prompted to select what the note is about, these options can change based on things that have happened to you recently on the game, both ICly, and OOCly, and based on your employment. Choose this option carefully as it indicates what it's about to the GMs that read the note.
Choose Subject: Choose a concise and accurate note subject line that makes this note easy to pick out of a crowd!
Bad Examples: Job Need job left a resume sent a gridmail got killed killed murder fine loan
Good Examples: Looking for a bartender job Need to find a bartender job Left a resume with Hookie for Bartender job Applied for a job at NLM as Corpsec Killed by Snakes on Fuller Street Murdered a Snake on Fuller Street Fined by a Judge for talking shit Loaned 25k by John, due on the 25th
Write your Note: This is important! Write your note. If you are leaving a note for an admin it's best practice to write it in a template form so that we have easy access to it. Long paragraphs are hard to digest. Here is an example of our template:

I was walking down Fuller street when a Snake (Bernike) told me I needed to pay the toll. He was injured and I was feeling frisky so I pulled out a gun and started shooting him. I managed to kill him but he called for backup and all I grabbed off of him was a hatchet before I had to flee from incoming gangers. I was shrouded at the time but my disguise had slipped by the end of the fight. Not sure if they noticed me or recognized me. I have spent a lot of time on Fuller Street.
SUMMARY -> Accosted by a Snake (Bernike) to pay toll -> Refused and pulled a gun -> Killed Snake and looted hatchet -> Was disguised but it slipped at the end -> Not seen by any actual NPC snakes, but am known on Fuller

Hit a period when you are done writing your note body and it will display your note for review and you can submit it.
ALL NOTES ARE READ BY GMS. We may not give you feedback on your notes, but we read ALL of them. Every GM signs in and reviews all notes that they haven't already read. This is a requirement, so your note IS read. We may or may not act on it, but it will be seen and if it merits it-- discussed.
