Anonymous sources from inside the HoJ report the council is working on a proposal that will re-open the doors to the rest of the world. [full article] At present, our city's immigration process keeps 99% of those who try to get in, out. Whether by transport shuttle, ground vehicle or on foot, a lot of people are turned away for no good reason. Recently, this policy has been questioned. Since closing the doors, crime hasn't improved, our quality of life hasn't improved. It's gotten worse in fact. Across the board, the statistics that report on our state of well-being reflect unhappiness, disease, destitution, and desperation. Is our 'closed door policy' responsible for sad state of affairs? This is what the council has been debating. Our source informs us that the potential plan is two-fold. First, a limited open-door policy allowing travel both in and out of the city via it's main gates. Travelers would be restricted from transporting contraband in or out and they would be decontaminated to prevent transmission of diseases. Secondly, a fee would be charged for coming into or leaving the city. There's no word as to what this fee would be, but if its like anything else in Withmore, it won't be cheap. Will this plan work? Will the criminal element all suddenly leave for greener pastures? Will this bring in an element of fresh air to our stale green house of plasteel and glass? Maybe. Surviving is a no-holds bar, anything goes contest where contestants must brave the harshest conditions while completing a myriad of challenges with the help of fellow contestants. This year, Surviving is going to be held in Withmore's own backyard. Surviving: Badlands Edition is now accepting applications at the NLM front desk. Please, serious applicants only. Leo Wolf, this year's host, has put together a few simple ground rules that all contestants must know before entering an applications. Do you have what it takes to survive? Surviving: Badlands Edition Host: Leo Wolf A new season of Survivor is here and NLM would like to take this opportunity to remind all its Surviving fans of the rules. A few have changed so we'll go over them all. 1. Any gang, which fails to complete a group challenge in the time allotted or at all, will have to vote out one of its members later that day in an open forum. 2. Any member voted out must face the remaining contestants of the other gangs in a manhunt that night, starting at sunset. Should there be only one gang remaining, all other contestants participate in the hunt. 3. The hunters have until morning to find the prey. 4. The hunt does not end until either the prey, or one of the hunters is dead. If the prey kills one of the hunters, they will be allowed to return to their gang. 5. NLM is not responsible for the loss of life due to a clone 'dead-zone'. Families of the deceased will not be  compensated. 6. Any actions taken by the contestants that are illegal within Withmore are not admissible in court. 7. The winner is eligible for 1,000,000 chyen; the winner must survive to collect the winnings and must participate in all challenges. 8. NLM will not pay for the funeral of any contestant's clones. 9. Once your clone dies on the show you are not allowed to return 10. Contestants whose clone's die are not allowed to sue either NLM or the contestant(s) involved in said death. 11. Any non-illegal gear won or found by the contestants is theirs to take home. Upon arrival they are subject to a body search by the WJF to confiscate any illegal materials. 12. There are no zones, no safe areas, no arenas other than those dictated for specific challenges. 13. There will be no unauthorized killing of another contestant outside of a hunt or a challenge where death is allowed. 14. Failure to follow the above rules results in immediate dismissal from the game. 15. If a rule is not stated above, then it does not exist. Now just a little information on how the show works. Each contestant is implanted with a tracking device which monitors their location via satellite at all times; it will also record their vital signs. The devices will only stop working when they have been surgically removed and turned off, allowing for body retrieval. The show is filmed mostly by sophisticated hover cameras. They have infrared ability as well, allowing them to film at night. It is the contestant’s responsibility to find food, shelter, clean water, and any weapons they choose to have. It is also their responsibility to provide their own safety and to take precautions ensuring against disease and death. Winning challenges and completing tasks assigned will result in gangs and personal contestants receiving prizes in the form of clothing, armor, weapons, food, medicine, materials, tools, immunity from a forum vote, and anything else NLM deems appropriate. Survival is required to collect any winnings. In the event of a tie, a sudden death hunt will occur between the remaining contestants. Published 4.22.2092 by NewsDesk TERRA seems incapable of quelling the violence in the RED Sector that has caused the murder rate to triple in the last few months. The question we need to ask ourselves is -why- the WJF has not taken over.  If the WJF put a large presence in the 'Mix' then the gangs would be forced to either go to ground or fight. Does anyone think they really stand a chance against a heavily armed and armored WJF presence?  A few days of fighting and not only would the gangs be forced to go to ground but there ranks would be severely thinned, forcing them to regroup and lick there wounds. Published 2.26.2092 by NewsDesk Several major corporations nodes have been defaced in recent days.  The decker, or deckers have used bugs in the GRIDs own system logic to 'spoof' their alias and gain access privs while at the same time hiding their true identity from sys-admins across the board. The corporations attacked have gone on the offensive, vowing stricter security protocols and tracking algorithms. The question remains as to why the decker(s) have done what they have done.  Is it simply a random act of techno-terrorism or is there a rhyme behind the reason. The moment we know - You'll know!
