You Can't Take the Sky from Me
Thursday, February 2, 2006 @ 15:09 PST
So, I've been finding myself playing a resurgance of space games of all types. I blame this squarely on the shoulders of Mr Joss Whedon. That talented bastard went and made Firefly (which went largely unnoticed by me because the sci-fi channel always had something to beat what looked to be a crappy show thanks to FOXs crap adverts, but I degress) and then Serenity. Fast forward a few months and I've spent the better part that time enjoying the flights of fancy that filled my childhood. The notion that space is at once vastly empty and hostile as well as full of possibility and hope has always enticed me to dream for the stars. I'd love to be like Mark Shuttlesworth and buy a trip to the International Space Station and one day I do indeed hope to fly up to LEO just like Sir Richard Branson wants to let me do ... for a hefty fee ofcourse.

One day we'll reach the stars, not just a brave few, but all of us who want to. Until then I have my Star Trek, my Battlestar and my DVDs of too short-lived Firefly.

Oh, and you blog spammers are fucking scum.
