Pickpocket bug

I pickpocketed a npc named Danny and got the message "You relieve Danny of 809 chyen without his knowledge." But right afterwords he attacked me and beat me unconscious. This doesn't seem right, but I'm new so i dunno.
First off, please don't share IC info with us, such as what you've done!

Secondly, there's always a chance that only -you- think that they're unaware.

Also: NPC? PC? What's the difference? They're people in a city, walking down a street. Treat them all the same, and you won't be so surprised when they start acting like people with real feelings.
Also, things that you think are bugs are best reported using the @bug command.
You should have used xhelp, cause if you @bugged it that it would have been ignored. Stealing code has also been ignored for a very long time, but the bottom line is, there's what you think happened, and what the other person thinks happened.
The D strikes again! Ain't nobody got shit on the D!
Perhaps a simple fix would be to adjust the message? Something like, "You relieve Danny of 809 chyen. You're pretty sure he didn't notice..."

"You relieve Danny of 809 chyen. You're pretty sure he didn't notice..."

I like this, as I had the same issue with this when I first started in Withmore.

If you are unsure of if something is a bug, you can definitely xhelp and get an admin to give you some feedback on it. It's best to keep those off of the BGBB unless it's a large topic of discussion.

Please do not say things like this:

"You should have used xhelp, cause if you @bugged it that it would have been ignored. Stealing code has also been ignored for a very long time, but the bottom line is, there's what you think happened, and what the other person thinks happened."

We do not ignore bugs. That is really disheartening to hear a player who has been here as long as you have say. If we rolled the game back to 2089 codebase, pretty much only you and I would recognize it.

Also, I have updated the messaging to be more ambiguous per the feedback on this thread.

Nice, Slither. Working as intended, as well.
Slither is absolutely right, and my phrasing was poor, I apologize. That said, last I knew shoplift has been ignored since 2089, though I haven't had that sort of character for a long time so I'm not sure.

Shoplifting is not a thing. Don't plan on it being a thing. It's basically impossible to balance. We have some ideas for making it work but they are reliant on other code needing to be put into place well in advance of it.

Right now the system doesn't like, raise your wanted level if you shoplift something. It would be like playing GTA except you never get stars, no matter how many people you shoot.

Wish it weren't this way-- but thievery is still a super useful skill for stealing things and money from other characters, so don't fret!
